Failure of the Excavation Support System for the Infinity Tower in Dubai

In February 2007, the excavation support system for a 20 m deep basement excavation for the Infinity Tower in Dubai, UAE failed.  The site was located on a major canal immediately adjacent to the Persian Gulf.  The failure flooded the excavation within four minutes.  This presentation discusses the results of the root cause analysis, and the subsequent design and construction of the temporary support system to close the breach, dewater the excavation, and allow construction of the tower basement to resume.

Attendees will earn 1.0 hour of Continuing Education Credit. CE Certificates will be emailed after the event.
